Oakley hand-off to Westamerica scores touchdown for NFL face shields
Oakley is the producer of the NFL-approved helmet face shields. With the current season in flux from COVID, the new shields had been on hold awaiting direction on the league plans.
When the NFL decided it was time to launch the face shields, they expected immediate results. And Oakley delivered.
Oakley project manager Bernie Valentin looked to Westamerica’s Danny Bishop and Ray Weiss to deliver the goods. Bernie, Danny and Ray were able to shave an 8-week production schedule down to about 14 days to deliver a 25,000-piece order to the NFL.
With the COVID threat looming over the season, these shields are an important enhancement to player safety and performance. The collaboration between the client, end user and Westamerica led to a successful outcome.
