Money Matters Winter 2020

JHFCU in the Throughout the years, JHFCU and its compassionate staff have volunteered and/or sponsored events in the community. Here are a few of our efforts over the past year: • Donated to Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Snoasis Room , a winter wonderland where parents and families staying at their Inpatient Center can shop for their children receiving treatment and their siblings over the holiday season. • Donated to The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center to support their active programs in clinical research, laboratory research, education, prevention, control and community outreach. • Participated in Wreaths Across America to support those who have lost their lives for our country by laying wreaths on over 20,000 graves of fallen veterans. • Sponsored Kenney Krieger Institute’s Festival of Trees and decorated a ribbon- winning tree that was sold at the event to benefit the children at the institute. • Participated in Generosity Feeds event in October to pack over 10,000 meals for local children that struggle with food insecurity. • Collected books for the Maryland Book Bank’s Books for Kids Day which helps support under-resourced children in Baltimore. • Volunteered and participated in Maryland SPCA’s Festival for the Animals to support homeless animals in need. • Donated gift cards to the Casey Cares Foundation to provide an uplifting “Pizza & Movie Night” experience to families of critically ill homebound children. • Sponsored Camp Kesem at Johns Hopkins University’s Make the Magic event to support children that are impacted by a parent with cancer by experiencing a week-long summer camp. • Collected non-perishable food items to support the Hope Week 2019 Food Drive . • Raised funds and participated in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk that helps fund community research and local programs at Johns Hopkins. • Initiated JHFCU’s Spreading Kindness campaign and gave out sweet treats to various Hopkins locations and the local community. • Collected school supplies for local children in Northeast Baltimore that were distributed through the REACH! program. • Participated in the Mix 106.5 Radiothon by answering donor calls to raise funds to support Johns Hopkins Children’s Center . • Adopted six children for our Adopt-A- Child Holiday Program and purchased holiday gifts from their wish lists. • Volunteered, sponsored and participated in various initiatives to support the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House at Johns Hopkins .
